چکیده

We present a novel geometric approach for solving the stereo problem for an arbitrary number of images (greater than or equal to 2). It is based upon the deenition of a variational principle that must be satissed by the surfaces of the objects in the scene and their images. The Euler-Lagrange equations which are deduced from the variational principle provide a set of PDE's which are used to deform an initial set of surfaces which then move towards the objects to be detected. The level set implementation of these PDE's potentially provides an eecient and robust way of achieving the surface evolution and to deal automatically with changes in the surface topology during the deformation, i.e. to deal with multiple objects. Results of an implementation of our theory also dealing with occlusion and vibility are presented on synthetic and real images.

Modeling 3D Objects from Range Maps and Color Images using a Warping-based Approach

Two important means of acquiring 3D models of real world scenes and objects are range scanners and stereovision systems. The first approach is usua lly implemented through laser-range mapping techniques, which result in dense depth maps, with relatively high accuracy. On the other hand, stereo methods reconstruct the scene geometry by finding corresponding points in two or more images, then tri...

Parametric Dense Stereovision Implementation on a System-on Chip (SoC)

This paper proposes a novel hardware implementation of a dense recovery of stereovision 3D measurements. Traditionally 3D stereo systems have imposed the maximum number of stereo correspondences, introducing a large restriction on artificial vision algorithms. The proposed system-on-chip (SoC) provides great performance and efficiency, with a scalable architecture available for many different s...

Realistic Face Animation for Audiovisual Speech Applications: A Densification Approach Driven by Sparse Stereo Meshes

Being able to produce realistic facial animation is crucial for many speech applications in language learning technologies. Reaching realism needs to acquire and to animate dense 3D models of the face which are often acquired with 3D scanners. However, acquiring the dynamics of the speech from 3D scans is difficult as the acquisition time generally allows only sustained sounds to be recorded. O...

A SBAN Stereovision Algorithm - Using Hue as Pixel Similarity Criterion

This paper presents a similarity-based adaptive neighborhood (SBAN) dense stereovision algorithm which uses color for comparing pixels. In SBAN methods, the neighbor pixels which are not similar to the central one are excluded of the window when computing the correlation index, which corresponds to adapting the equivalent size and shape of the correlation neighborhood. We present a specific typ...

A Simple and Fast Neural Network Approach to Stereovision

A neural network approach to stereovision is presented based on aliasing effects of simple disparity estimators and a fast coherencedetection scheme. Within a single network structure, a dense disparity map with an associated validation map and, additionally, the fused cyclopean view of the scene are available. The network operations are based on simple, biological plausible circuitry; the algo...
